NEWS UPDATE (March, 2013) More than 100 abstracts have been submitted from colleagues from all over the world. An extension of the deadlines has been arranged in response to requests by several participants and members of the International Scientific Committee Final Call for Abstracts and Deadline Extension The deadline for abstract submission is extended to the 8th of April. The abstract submission should be accompanied by the registration form. Abstracts submitted after the final deadline can only be considered for a poster presentation. The instructions for abstract submission can be found in the abstract subsection. Registration - Final Deadline 1st of May Registration before the 1st of May final deadline is advisable for participants not submitting abstracts. Higher registration fees apply thereafter. The registration form and details can be found/downloaded from the registration subsection. Accommodation - Final deadline 1st of May, subject to availability Subject to room availability, the cost of accommodation in the conference venue Azia Beach Hotel will increase after the 8th of April to 230 Euros for a double room (two persons in a room) and 140 Euros for a single room (one person in a room). The cost of the All inclusive arrangement will increase to 60 Euros per person per day. Room booking after the 1st of May can not be guaranteed. NEW DEVELOPMENTS: ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS (RTD) - OPEN ACCESS TO THE PUBLIC Interested individuals and organisations are invited to the RTD below. Additional topics for RTD can be submitted by contacting the organisers. A) New Technologies, Translational Research and Applications RTD addressing Invention, Patent, Innovation, Technology Transfer and Marketing issues of research products from the lab to human use. Industry partners will be invited. B) Cancer: Update on prognosis, prevention, diagnosis and treatments. Risk/benefit assessment of therapies. Therapeutic targets. New treatments. C) Thalassaemia: The change from a fatal to a chronic disease. Optimal therapies. Iron and other metal metabolism and toxicity. Antioxidants. D) Risk/benefit assessment of natural, generic and new drugs and of established and alternative therapies. Diabetes, Neurodegenerative and other diseases E) The Role of Pharmaceutical Companies, Regulatory and Health Authorities, and of Journals on Patient Safety and Public Expenditure. Medical Ethics. Publication of the Proceedings Selected papers of the conference will be published in Frontiers in Bioscience. The selection of the papers will take place during and after the conference.
