2] PRE AND POST CONFERENCE TOURS
TRAVELLING TO CYPRUS:
Cyprus is a full member state of the United Nations and the European Union (EU). Despite that the whole of Cyprus is in the EU, the northern part of Cyprus is illegally occupied by Turkey. Cyprus or EU laws do not apply in the Turkish occupied areas.
There are two international airports in Cyprus namely Larnaca airport, which is the major airport and Paphos airport. Larnaca airport is about 2.0 hours and Paphos airport 0.5 hours from the conference venue respectively.
Cyprus can be reached by direct daily flights from most European and Middle East countries. There are several daily flights to Cyprus from Athens and London, which can be used as connecting flights by those travelling from other continents than Europe.
TRAVELLING IN CYPRUS:
The hotel can be reached by bus, taxi or hired car from Paphos and Larnaca airports.
Regular daily bus service is available from the airports. The bus route from Paphos airport includes the venue hotel and stops outside the hotel on request. The bus route from Larnaca airport includes a stop in Limassol and a change of bus to Paphos. On arrival at the central bus stop in Paphos, a bus can be taken to the venue hotel. The cost of the bus route from Larnaca is under 20 euros and from Paphos airport under 5 euros
Participants who will prefer their own transport, they can use either a taxi or hire a car from the airport. Taxis are the main form of transport in Cyprus. Taxi offices are located just outside the airports of Larnaca and Paphos operating non stop-24 hours and could be used for the transfers between the airport and the hotel, which will cost approximately 120 euros from Larnaca and 50 euros from Paphos airports for up to 4 persons. The same applies for the transportation from the hotel to the airport. A share taxi line service is also available during the daytime, which can be used from the cities to Larnaca airport, which costs about 30 euros per passenger. The organizers can make arrangements for transfer from and to the airport by bus or minibus if sufficient numbers of participants are arriving and departing at approximately the same time. Such information should be communicated by the persons travelling as a group to the organizers as soon as possible.
Several excursions have been arranged before, during and after the conference. Details of the tours will be available at the registration desk and the hotel.
Cyprus is a full member state of the European Union and the Euro is adopted as the official currency. Participants with other currencies should note that money can be exchanged in the banks at the airport and at the hotel at any time and also in the banks and co-op banks during official opening hours (8.30-13.30) at the weekdays. Banks are not open during the weekend.
